Inside susceptible microorganisms, Metronidazole undergoes reductive activation by intracellular electron transport proteins. The resulting reactive intermediates interact with microbial DNA, disrupting its helical structure and causing strand breakage. This leads to inhibition of nucleic acid synthesis and cell death.

Biozyl 400 is a broad-spectrum antimicrobial agent effective against bacteria and protozoa. It is widely used to treat infections of the respiratory tract, gastrointestinal system, skin, bones, reproductive organs, and oral cavity. Metronidazole — the active component — acts by damaging the DNA of susceptible microorganisms, resulting in the inhibition of protein synthesis and ultimately cell death.
This medicine is particularly effective against anaerobic bacteria and certain protozoal infections.
